Overview

Panchase trekkingis relatively short and easy; it offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna Himalaya range. The trek starts from the shore of the picturesque Phewa Lake in Pokhara. Only a few places in the world certainly have such a fabulous variety of cultures and incredible natural beauty. The Panchase Trek is inhabited by many different ethnic groups, and we have assured a warm welcome. The trail goes through oak and rhododendron forests with the sound of birds accompanying magnificent views of the Annapurna Himalaya range.

The Panchase Danda (2,250 m) is a religious site of significance to Hindus. It is an extraordinary combination of a long range of snow-capped peaks, crystal-clear lakes, disorderly rivers with deep gorges, Buddhist monasteries, and picturesque villages filled with kind-hearted local people. The Panchase trail leads you for several days through non-touristy areas and many small villages, so we will have plenty of time to take photographs and interact with the local people, learning some Nepalese words. There are many different ethnic groups, such as Gurung, Magar, Chetri, etc., along the trail, but the Gurung ethnic group is the most densely populated in this area.

The Annapurna Panchase trekking is possible, observing authentic countryside experience through the large Gurung village of Arthur and continuing to Karkinetta with basic accommodation. Then we trek to Kusma and catch a bus back to Pokhara. Alternatively, we can trek from Panchase back to Pokhara through the villages of Pumdi and Bhumdi and finish the trek at the famous Peace Stupa above Phewa Tal. From there, we can get to the hotel by boat. This type of trekking offers the experience of day-to-day Nepalese as it has been for centuries.

The Panchase Trek is a highly recommended short trek that can be arranged even for families with kids throughout the whole year. It will be our great pleasure to make your holiday more enjoyable and comfortable through the service of our experienced staff. Nepal Mother House Treks organizes this itinerary according to our valued clients' holiday schedules and interests.

Pokhara is a beautiful valley with panoramic views of Annapurna, Machapuchare (shape of fish tail), Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal and Manaslu. The town of Pokhara is set on the banks of the Phewa Lake. It is smaller and much less hectic than Kathmandu providing the perfect starting point for our trek. Stay overnight at a hotel.

Day Highlights

Today is the first day of our journey. After breakfast we drive to Mardipul and start the trek to Karpani. We follow a less frequented path in the direction of the Ghachok passing through the settlement of Lhachock (975m). Then through village fields to descend gently through a natural rock tunnel to reach our campsite at Karpani.

Day Highlights

The trail leads us along the west bank of the Seti Khola (river) and through several scattered small Gurung settlements, paved with large stone paths and several of the ascents are stepped in the same way. We cross the Sardi Khola and make a steep ascent to our campsite on a ridge high above the river with wonderful views of Annapurna South (7,219m), Hiunchuli (6,336m) and Machhapuchare (6,999m).

Day Highlights

After breakfast, we start with a steep ascent from the campsite through oak and rhododendron forests towards the ridge which separates Seti and Madi Kholas. In the spring the forest is full of Primula, orchids, and rhododendrons. We come to an open meadow with fabulous views of Machhapuchare, and then we continue up to the top of the ridge (2,621m). We make a short descent to reach an open meadow used by the local people as buffalo pasture (2400m). Then, again the trail descends through the forest, emerging into open grassy meadows above Sikklis (2000m). We have splendor panoramic mountain vista from our campsite both at sunrise and sunset.

After a long steep descent we get to Laamokhet for our overnight stay.

Day Highlights

From Laamokhet, some easy walking brings us gradually down the west bank of the river through forests and field terraces with several small settlements. Then the trail ascends steeply through the forest and gradually continues to Kalikastan (1150m). We stop in the village before continuing along a broad trail and ascending to the top of an open grassy ridge with panoramic views of the Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung and Manaslu Himal in the east and Begnas and Rupa lakes below the ridge to the south. We set up camp here overnight.
