Essential Information

Accommodation on the 8-Day Everest Luxury Trekking

Everest Luxury Trekking is the most popular teahouse trek in the Khumbu region. You will stay at a teahouse or lodge the entire trek, but you can’t expect luxury amenities such as in the city. Most of the teahouses will provide accommodation on a twin bed sharing basis, a pillow, furniture, and a warm blanket, and there will be a shared bathroom. As this is a teahouse trek, you don’t need to carry anything but a tent and other gear for the overnight stay. There are some luxury hotels in certain places like Lukla, Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Lobuche, etc., where they will provide a heater, a hot shower in the room, and a variety of meal options. If you would like to stay in such luxury hotels, we at Nepal Mother House Treks are glad to organize it according to your necessities with an additional payment.

What Kind of Food Is Available on the Everest Base Camp Luxury Lodge Trek?

On the Everest Base Camp Luxury Lodge Trek, you will have meals at tea houses; breakfast and dinner will be at the same tea house where you are staying, and you will take lunch on the way to the trek. Every teahouse has a well-trained cook who is attentive to clean, hygienic, fresh, and tasty foods to serve the guest. You can choose from a menu featuring various ethnic cuisines alongside Western, Indian, and Chinese dishes. Options include pizza, momo, chow mein, burgers, pasta, sandwiches, spaghetti, yak steak, macaroni, fried rice, and fried potatoes. The typical Nepalese food “Dalbhat” is most popular on the trek. In this course, there will be rice, spinach, vegetables, pickles, lentil soup, and pickles. Each place will have a unique recipe for dal bhat, prepared with various local ingredients, so you won't get bored with it. If you're looking for quick food, dal bhat is readily available in most places because it's a staple meal for all guides and porters in Nepal. In Nepalese culture, while ordering Dal Bhat, you can add more food until you have a full stomach at the same cost.

During the peak trekking season, Lukla, Phakding, Namche, and Dingboche offer a variety of bakery shops, cafés, restaurants, and bars where you can find most items. While you can find most meal items on the trek, we at Nepal Mother House Treks strongly advise against consuming meat items, as they may not be fresh, potentially causing stomach aches and disrupting your journey. We have some feedback from our clients and our overall experience with meat items and bakery bread. Wherever possible, avoid meat on the trek.

Is Drinking Water Possible on the Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek With Helicopter Return?

Every teahouse has a service of safe drinking water, either a bottle of mineral water or boiling filtered water you could purchase. But to preserve the environment from the plastic bottle, we at Nepal Mother House strongly recommend you not buy mineral water and emphasize using purified water treated with chlorine drops and iodine tablets, using a personal filter machine, or using a UV SteriPen, which you can buy in Kathmandu at a trekking shop. This is not only preserving environmental pollution, but it also helps save some money. You can fill up a water bottle from the tap in the tea house; our guide will help you fill the water. Regarding the water bottle, the list specifies a three-liter capacity. You could buy a bottle of water for every teahouse or grocery shop at a reasonable price, but the price would go up with altitude due to the need to carry it for a couple of days to one week. To keep your body warm, we also recommend you buy boiled water instead of cold.

What level of physical fitness does the Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek With Helicopter Return require?

This Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek With Helicopter Return 8 Day is a short version of the 14-day Everest Trek with one-day acclimatization at Namche Bazaar. You need to be physically fit and mentally strong for this trek. If you have any high-altitude trekking experience, it would be a tremendous help to get to the destination. Furthermore, you need to have a positive mindset and determination for a successful trek. Every day, you need to ascend to a high altitude for 5 to 6 hours. The exercise will help to build your stamina. Hence, it is best to take some training prior to your trip, like weekend hiking with a small bag, morning jogging, doing regular yoga, climbing stairs at home, or exercising at a fitness center, etc. Before booking a trek, it is advisable to consult your doctor about your trekking plan, health, and fitness.

People, Culture, Religion, and Faith in Khumbu

Mountaineering's famous Sherpa ethnic group lives on Everest. They are following Buddhism and have strong beliefs and unique cultures; every village established on the list, one monastery, and chortens can be seen at the entrance of the village and excite the gate in order to protect the whole village from negative spirits. The colorful Buddhist flag is flying on the house, on the hill, and on monasteries, and people are praying almost the whole day with the sacred Buddhist mantra “OM MANE PADME HUN,” revolving the mane with one hand and rounding the mane with another hand. The people of Everest are generous and have hospitality with smiling faces. They are celebrating Lhosar (the New Year according to the lunar calendar) around the second week of February, the Tiji Festival, Mani Rimdu festivals, Buddha Purnima/Jayanti (the birthday of Lord Buddha), etc. The people of Khumbu have their traditions, culture, and dialects similar to those of the Tibetan people. In some places, like Upper Pangbuche Village, you can meet people who are following the polyandry system as a testimonial of their ancient culture and tradition. Now Sherpa people are involved in the tourism sector, running hotels, trekking, and travel companies, which occupy their animal husbandry and farming.

The most popular Sherpa villages of Nepal are Lukla, Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Khumjung, Thame, Pangbuche, and Dingboche, which are full of an exciting and unique culture in the heart of the sacred Himalayas.
