Overview

Springtime in Nepal is one of the best times for adventure travel particularly to see the Rhododendrons. Nepal is a tiny country, and there are over 32 varieties of Rhododendrons that bloom in all hilly regions of Nepal above 2000 m altitude. Locally known as “Gurans” or Chimal in Nepali, a Rhododendron trek offers a feast for the eyes without being too tough to travel.

Most of Nepal's land is covered by Mountains, where during the spring season; the hilly forest is painted by Rhododendrons magnificently. There are four major areas for Rhododendron treks, Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking in the Annapurna Region, Milke Danda in remote eastern Nepal nestled in the foothills of the Himalaya, the Upper Tamur River, the Langtang Valley closer to Kathmandu, and the Makulu Barun National park. Trek in  Ghorepani Poon Hill and Mohare Danda during spring relatively known as Nepal Rhododendron Trekking, it is a comparatively easy walk winding through villages and rhododendron forests beneath the majestic Himalayan scenery. It is a colorful short venture trip that holds exciting glimpses of the high mountains, the whole horizons of which will be exposed as you reach the highest point of your trek - Poon Hill (3,210 m) and reveals some of the best views and is considered by many as the best viewpoint in the Annapurna region.

Enjoy trekking in the spectacular mountain scenery through charming villages (Ghorepani, Ghandruk) inhabited by the Magars and Gurungs communities. Mostly the trail goes through incredibly dense rhododendron forests, full of birds, playful Langur (black-faced monkey), and deep sub-tropical valleys, all set below the Annapurna Himalaya, with the picturesque fluted peak of Machhapuchhare (6993 m)  or Fishtail, dominating the skyline. You will climb Poon Hill at dawn to enjoy one of the most spectacular mountain experiences on Earth. At the climax of this trek, the sun touches the snow-capped summits of the Himalayan giants, Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna (8,091 m) along with a network of other peaks slowly begin to appear like magic before our eyes. A rewarding trekking trail, the Nepal Rhododendron Treks leads you through the colorful orchids and clear views of the splendid mountains that can be enjoyed by every traveler.

The Rhododendron Trek is easy to access in a short amount of time. It begins from Nayapul, which can be reached after a short drive from the Beautiful Tourist city of Pokhara. You can’t imagine the magnificence of the sunrise from Poon Hill that you will witness from here, which illuminates the peaks of the entire range, leaving you enthralled. This Rhododendron Trek is considered to be the best introduction to trekking with some spectacular views and amazing Rhododendrons everywhere throughout the entire trip. Spring is the time for Rhododendron blooming, especially the Middle of March to the Middle of April is the best time to see colorful Rhododendron.
