Rupina La Pass, located in lower Manaslu and off the beaten path, offers the highest elevation of 4,720 meters on this trip. This is an adventure trip in and of itself, with the combined most popular Larkya La pass (5,160 m). It is a mixture of mountain scenery, natural beauty, and unique culture with historical dignity. In 1991, Rupina La Pass trekking officially opened for trekkers.
After the construction of the motorable road at Annapurna, Rupina La Pass gained popularity. The trip starts at Barpak, about a ten-hour drive from Kathmandu through the Trishuli river bank. Or drive 144 km from Kathmandu to historical Gorkha, the headquarters of Gorkha district. Then you will walk to Barpak Village, where the late VC Capt. Gaje Ghale was born. He got the Victoria Cross medal during the Second World War at Barma. The epicenter of the Earth's rapid destruction on April 25, 2015, was located in Barpak. Less than 10 of the 1200 houses still stand in Barpak, where the earthquake struck. It is an idle trip for every visitor, such as students, researchers, culture seekers, and mountain lovers.
Generally, you can enjoy this trip as a simple tea house trip, but the isolation of Barpak village to Nyak in the high Himalayas makes it a unique experience. There is not any village for shelter and food, so you need to make a full effort to organize a trip for five to six nights. This is a wilderness trail with the best view of mountains, glaciers, jungle, and wild goats. Sometimes, we can see yaks and sheep herded on high grassland. The trail goes lap of the Baudha Himal (6,672 m), through the Jarang, Zokbatang, Goma, and Nyak at Manaslu circuit main trail via Rupinala Pass (4720 m). Further, you have the mighty scenery of Mt. Manaslu (8,163 m), Peak 27 (6879 m), Himal Chuli (7893 m), Ganesh Himal, etc.
After Nyak, you may continue to the Manaslu Circuit through the Ghap, Namrung, Lho, Samagaun (the birthplace of the most popular writer, Guru Mingyur Rinpoche's"The Joy of Living" book), Samdo, Dharmashala, Larke Pass, and Bhimtang to catch the bus to Kathmandu from Dharapani. Or you may end the trip at Arughat Bazaar Gorkha and reverse some parts of the Manaslu trekking main trail: Philim, Tatopani, Machhakhola, and Soti. Rupina La is a new trekking destination with spectacular mountain scenery, natural wonders, cultural richness, and geographical diversity. Amazing landscapes, rice traces, typical houses, worms, and kindhearted people are impressing you. This qualifies you for the next Nepal invitation. We at Nepal Mother House Treks are glad to organize your Manaslu Rupina La trek with expert local guides and porters. September to November and March to May are the best times for this trip.
