The Everest Base Camp trek with Lawudo Retreat is an adventure hiking and spiritual journey that takes place in the shadow of the world's highest peak. It is a lifetime experience in the Himalayas with breathtaking mountain views, alluring natural beauty, century-old monasteries, the Mane Wall, Chhortens, and unique Sherpa culture.
Lawudo Retreat is a Buddhist meditation center situated in the Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality in the Solu-Khumbu district of Nepal; it is near the Everest Base Camp trail, within three to four hours walking distance from naturally blessed Namche Bazaar. It takes an hour of ascending walking for a fit person from Mende to the Lawudo Gumba. A renowned Tibetan Buddhist teacher named Lama Zopa Rinpoche founded the monastery. Lawudo Trip offers retreat programs and meditation courses in a peaceful environment with spiritual calm.
It is a combination of the Everest Base Camp trek and a visit to Lawudo Retreat as a transformative experience. The journey immerses you in the natural beauty of the Himalayas and explores your inner self through meditation, self-realization, and spiritual practice.
To embark on the EBC Trek with Lawudo Retreat journey, you would typically start from Lukla, a small town at the gateway of Mount Everest, after a scenic short flight from the capital city of Kathmandu. From there, you would walk along the Dudh Koshi River Bank onward to Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar, with breathtaking mountain views through the Sherpa hometown such as Phakding, Manjo, Namche Bazaar, Tengbuche, Dingbuche, Lobuche, and Gorakshep. The trek to Everest Base Camp usually takes around 12–14 days, depending on the specific itinerary, pace, and requirements.
On the Everest Base Camp trek with retreat, you would pass through several Sherpa villages, cross suspension bridges, visit holy sites, monasteries, Chhorten, Mane walls, Buddhist Mantrans craving rocks, glaciers, and icefalls, and ascend through rugged terrain. This trek is in the World Heritage Site at Sagarmatha National Park. Many wildlife species call Sagarmatha National Park home, including Jharal (wild goats), musk deer, snow leopard, Red Panda, Himalayan cock, Monal/Daphe (a national bird of Nepal), and a plethora of aromatic plants such as Juniper, Sandalwood, pine trees, Sunpate Dhup, and Magnolia, among others. The trek offers breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains such as Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Thamserku, Kusum Kanguru, Kwngde, Tabuche, Pumori, and, of course, Mount Everest itself.
Once you reach Everest Base Camp (5,360 m), you can spend some time there and capture some moments of Everest Base Camp, Khumbu Glacier, Khumbu Icefall, and the surrounding charming environment. Likewise, while visiting the most popular viewpoint, "Kalapathar,” at an elevation of 5,550 m, enjoy the awe-inspiring sight of the mountains, including the world's highest mountain. Afterward, retrace to the Namche Bazaar for your retreat program in the Lawudo Gumba for a period of meditation and self-insight.
Your physical body gains strength from exploring the world's roof and its surrounding phenomena. The ever-standing mountains, with their natural power, have the potential to cleanse some of your unknown karma from your hectic physical life, which may have obstructed your spiritual journey. Now, it is time to clean your metaphysical body at Lawudo Retreat. During the retreat, you'll have the chance to join in meditation conferences, where you will get techniques from experienced mentors, practice meditation, immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere, and continue your further spiritual journey. May till moksha! This conference will recharge your soul, deepen your spiritual practice, and provide insights into Buddhist philosophy.
We've noticed that the retreat seats are limited, so we recommend that you notify us a few months in advance about the availability of retreat programs and courses. You may check with Lawudo Retreat directly or ask a trustworthy travel agency that specializes in trekking and spiritual journeys in Nepal. Furthermore, as this trek involves a high attitude and challenging territory, it's essential to have proper trekking equipment and to be well-prepared physically and mentally beforehand to embark on the Everest Base Camp trek.
After visiting the Everest Base camp and getting into Lawudo Gumba for a meditation session, you may stay longer to practice, and then the guide will return to Lukla. Therefore, you have the option to hire a guide for a portion of the Everest Base Camp and then continue your journey back to Namche or Lawudo.
