Overview

Chisapani Nagarkot is a short and easy trek in Kathmandu Valley Ridge through the artificial Dhap Dam Lake as a tourist attraction, with the combination of typical livelihood, ethnic culture, and mountain scenery. The Chisapani Nagarkot Trek is suitable for children, families, students, and those who have a short time in Nepal but still want to explore countryside activities. The Sundarijal Chisapani Nagarkot Trek is the best trip away from the hubbub of city life and a great experience for interacting with local people.

The Chisapani Nagarkot Trek starts from Sundarijal, after an hour's drive from Kathmandu city into the northeast. The trail goes through the Shivapuri National Park and drinking water supply dam, then to the Mulkharka villages, and again through the oak and rhododendron forests. Spring is the best time for the rhododendron to bloom. You have amazing sunrise and sunset views from Chisapani and Nagarkot, with snowcapped mountain chains including Mt. Everest (8,848.86 m) in the far east and the Annapurna Range's west horizon. Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and the Langtang Himalaya range can be most of the trail. Dhap Dam Lake, part of the Bagmati River Basin Improvement Project (BRBIP), is a human-made reservoir created to enhance water security and build resilience against potential impacts of climate change in the Bagmati River Basin, supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Two trails go for the artificial Lake Dhap; one is a traditional trail through the Sundarijal, Mulkharka, and Army Camp above the village in the Shivapuri National Park, Chisapani, and walks 3 km along the road to Nagarkot. Next is separated from Mulkharka village (a bike ride from Begging of Mulkharka Village at Karma Hotel), and a walking trail in the middle of the village with a small stream turns to the right side and goes along the dense forest, following the small river bank to the Hile Bhanjyang, about 18 km, and one km to the Dhap Lake

Nagarkot Village is on the edge of the valley and offers superb views of the mountains as well as Kathmandu Valley. The early sunrise view at Nagarkot is the most fascinating and compelling for you. Then you will walk down through the village with the different communities along a ridge to the oldest temple, Changu Narayan. This is another viewpoint for the Kathmandu Valley, with Sankhu village to the right and Bhaktapur to the left. Explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the entire experience of your lifetime, with ancient temples, palaces, art, tradition, etc.

Chisapani Nagarkot Trek is known as Short Trek Kathmandu Valley and is uniquely designed to provide the best feeling of nature, beautiful villages, and terraces with seasonal crops like mustard and wheat. It also offers magnificent mountain views. This trip provides you with an exotic feeling of being close to nature, village life, and the beauty of dramatic mountain views. Chisopani Nagarkot Trekking takes you through typical Nepalese countryside and exposes you to the various ethnic groups of Nepal. Nepal Mother House Treks organizes Chisapani Nagarkot hiking trips by the local specialist according to your schedule and requirements, such as tea house or camping.
