Overview

The eighth highest mountain in the world," Mt. Manaslu," is positioned in the Gorkha District of midwestern Nepal and provides the backdrop for the magnificent Manaslu Circuit Trek. Hikers wishing to spend their time in the highlands might give the 14-day Manaslu Circuit some thought. The limited nature of this hiking path calls for groups of two or more; hence, hiring certified trekking guides via a reputable trekking company is essential. Hikers who wish to experience the geographical variety quickly while nevertheless seeing breathtaking mountain views, a unique culture, and customs will find an ideal fit on this trail. The newest teahouse in the region is located on Manaslu, making it a less popular walk compared to other hiking sites.

Along the Manaslu Circuit, most of the locations present breathtaking mountain views, a vibrant local culture, and centuries-old customs. Those who want to enjoy the mountains' splendor throughout their trips should definitely check out this trekking trail. Since this hiking path is limited, groups of two or more trekkers have to pay professional trekking guides through a licensed trekking company. The trek passes by magnificent waterfalls and scattered small towns along the Budhigandki River (Yashodhara Nadi) as it goes from the lowland rice terraced fields at Arughat to the highland at Larkya Pass. Visit Manaslu Base Camp (4,400 m), Birendra Lake, Samagaun/Nubri Valley, the birthplace of Mingyur Rinpoche's "The Joy of Living" book, Buirendra Lake, the Tibet-Border at Ruila Pass (4,998 m), and the revered Pung Gyen Gumba.

Starting in Machhakhola, the Manaslu Circuit excursion lasts nine to ten hours. Through Arughat Bazaar and close to Narsingh Dham in Salyantar, you will view stunning surroundings during this time. The path rises in rural communities, forests, lakes, and glaciers before climbing the challenging Larkya La Pass (5,160 m). From that vantage point, the trail's many glaciers astound you. Among them are the Annapurna Range (8,091 m), Mt. Manaslu (8,156 m), Cheo Himal (6,820 m), Ganesh Himal (7,429 m), Himlung Himal (7,126 m), Nemjung (7,140 m), Gyaji Kang (7,074 m), and Kang Guru (6,981 m). After returning to Dharapani from the trek, you can drive to Kathmandu. The Manaslu Circuit Trip was developed by Nepal Mother House Treks as a means of allowing visitors to come across unique lifestyles, flee from the earthly world, and learn about Mother Nature.

The path to the Manaslu Circuit replaces the usually popular trekking objective in the Manaslu area. Its trademark paradise is "untouched." Trekking in Nepal and set on the outskirts between Nepal and Xizang (Tibet), it was formally opened as a voyage walking trip for trekkers in 1992. The Manaslu Circuit Voyage, one of the most restricted hiking paths in the Manaslu Region, requires specific trekking licenses due to its limited geographical scope. The Manaslu Circuit Journey offers the perfect mix of the intriguing Tibetan social system with its many mountainous natural features, unmatched degree of lovely heavenliness, and rich social legacy. At 8,156 m, Manaslu is usually the eighth most beautiful sight on Earth. are keen. Manaslu claims that "The Spirit Mount" captures the fear that the locals have for the powerful, benevolent deity that resides there. This project is among the most beautiful ones.

Look no further than the Manaslu Circuit crossing Larkya La Pass if you really are keen to discover all the pleasure and experience the complete spectrum of trekking possibilities in Nepal. Apart from climbing, there are various ways to reach the summit of Larke Pass, but climbing is a very difficult path requiring much strength and fitness—in an unexpected manner. Compared to the Annapurna Circuit Trek, the recently launched Tea House Trek on the Manaslu Circuit Trek is quite original.

Trekking the Manaslu Circuit allows you to experience the daily lives of actual Nepalese people, as well as encounter some Buddhist monks and their unique, fortunate dwellings. The wide perspective of the huge country of Tibet against the perfect Himalayas emphasizes this especially special place. Typically, we continue our journey along the Manaslu Circuit. You will also tour "Samagompa," the terribly empty holy house in Samagaou. Here, breathtaking mountains surround you. From there, we typically travel downward into lush tropical areas with their bamboo, pine woods, waterfalls, colorful shrub forests, and blue freshwater lakes surrounded by white beaches. Mountains such as Himalchuli (7,893 m) and Ganesa Himal (7,319 m),

After the whole trip is complete, the route takes you back to Besisahar via the traditional Annapurna hiking routes. You might take a few side trips to Manaslu if you have extra time in Nepal. The Manaslu Circuit offers several side trips. Day hikes to Kalo Tal (Kalchhuman Lake) from Prok Village, Serang Gumb from Bihi Phedi, Hinang Gumba, and up to Himalchuli Base Camp (4020 m) from Lhi Gaun, Phung Gyen Gumba from Shayla Village, and Nubri Pema Decho Ling Monastery on the way to Manaslu Base Camp from Samagaun Village are all incredible destinations. From Birendra Lake, where the Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche resides, a trip to the Tibet border at Ruila Pass (4,998 m) is another incredible destination.

To secure permits for the Manaslu Circuit, a group must consist of at least two members. But as we are a local trekking company headquartered in Gorkha, we at Nepal Mother House Treks are happy to schedule a single excursion for you by combining your permission with the group's, therefore enabling you to embark on a solo trip. Hikers seeking to swiftly complete the Manaslu Larkya La Pass benefit from convenient access to cities and the latest updates on road construction.  For those who choose to spend a vacation in the highlands by following the traditional Manaslu Trek path, the situation is Along the path, you will see mountains such as Himalchuli (7,893 m), Ganesa Himal (7,319 m), Shringi Himal (7,187 m), and Manaslu Himal (8,156 m). troubling news.

Are you not sure about the Manaslu Circuit Trekking Trail that tracks newly built road development? If so, a new hiking track called the Manaslu Circuit alternate trail has surfaced as a road fix. On the first day of the journey, walk from Arughat to Manbu (700 m); on the second, from Manbu to Yarsa (1,877 m); on the third, from Kashigaun to Kerauja (2,074 m); and last, on the fourth, from Dobhan to the Manaslu main road. This hike will take you to the Prok Village, situated across from the Ghap and directly above the Budhigandaki River. Formerly known as Yashodhara Nadi, we set off on a worthy journey to Kal Tal/KalChhumar Lake (3,574 m).

Often called the Around Manaslu Trek or the Manaslu Base Camp Trek, the Manaslu Circuit is a fantastic journey around Mount Manaslu's periphery. These days, a basic teahouse walk can immediately empower the residents to work in hotels and buy locally made goods. The finest times to go on the Manaslu Trek are September, October, and November in the autumn; also, March, April, and May in the spring. All you need for your trekking trip is available at the Nepal Mother House. We invite everyone to have an incredible holiday with us as we think of providing our clients with the greatest possible treatment. If you lack sufficient vacation time, the 10-day Short Manaslu Circuit Trek would be the ideal option for you instead of the full 14-day trek.

How do you prepare yourself for the Manaslu Circuit Trek?

Preparing for the Manaslu Circuit Trekking involves choosing the right gear, completing all the paperwork, and getting your body ready for the challenge. If you have never hiked before, make sure you go on a few before the vacation starts. Exercise mostly aims for aerobics, endurance, and leg power as well. You also have to psychologically persuade yourself to spend several days in a far-off location on the earth devoid of modern conveniences.

How many trekking permits do you need for the Manaslu Circuit Trek?

Manaslu is a limited-area trek that needs four different permissions in Nepal. Those hiking permits are available in Pokhara and Kathmandu. Your desired month and number of days in the area will help you to estimate the cost of a limited location—especially a permit. The immigration offices in Pokhara and Kathmandu grant permits for restricted regions. You have to register two hikers in a group using the Trekking Agency and a government-verified trekking guide (solo trip permits are forbidden).

For the first seven days, the permit costs $100; from September to November, it runs USD 15 per day. Each trekker also pays USD 75 for the first seven days, then USD 15 daily.  Along with all else, you should have travel insurance, a current passport, a valid visa, documentation proving all payments, etc. Likewise, the Manaslu Conservation Area permits call for MCAP, and the Conservation Area ACAP costs NPR 3,000 and NPR 1,000 for local government permits from Tsum Nubri Rural Municipality. For additional information about Manaslu Circuit permits, please refer to the Nepal trekking permit cost.

Do you need to purchase travel insurance for the Manaslu Base Camp Trek?

While Manaslu Base Camp does not require travel insurance, we recommend obtaining coverage up to 5,106 meters. Travel insurance should cover elective trip cancellation, medical expenses, property loss or theft, and emergency evacuation. Travel insurance provides a kind of safety net when you are visiting far-off places. You might rely on it and hike freely, enjoying every moment of the adventure.

You need to know the cost and itinerary before trekking in the Manaslu Circuit.

The trekking itinerary and services you choose from the packages will determine the cost of the Manaslu Circuit trek. Should every trek require a personal porter, the expenses will increase. The cost of a journey varies depending on private transportation. The duration of your stay in the Manaslu Restricted Area and the route of your excursion are also crucial factors. The permits cost more after the initial seven days. International fuel prices and government policies issued by the Nepali government indicate that the cost of the trek is progressively growing every fiscal year; yet, Nepal Mother House Treks is providing you a 14-day Manaslu Circuit early booking discount for the spring and fall seasons of 2025 and 2026.

If you want to spend more time in the mountains, you may combine the holy Tsum Valley Trek with the Manaslu Circuit to create the Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek, an 18- to 26-day excursion. This package includes a 14-day itinerary that features the most well-known attractions of Manaslu. If they are in optimum physical shape and can walk for eight to nine hours most days, trekkers looking for the shortest travel time in Manaslu can finish the Manaslu circuit trek in 10 days.  This is a comprehensive guide to the Tsum Valley Trek and the Manaslu Circuit.

What to Expect in the Difficulty Level of the Manaslu Circuit Trek?

Are you curious about the level of challenge involved in the Manaslu Circuit Journey? Manaslu's difficulty rating falls between moderate and strenuous; on certain days you must travel seven or eight hours across the high Himalayas to pass above 5000 meters. Usually starting with a gorgeous drive from Kathmandu to Machhakhola, the walk follows the Budhigandaki riverbank to the 5,106-meter-high Larke La Pass. The path winds through subtropical, alpine, and alpine tundra vegetation among different kinds of forest. It also travels over a glacier-marine instability rock pathway and a tiny path winding across a rock cliff. Hikers of all ages who are physically fit and possess outstanding resolve would find this walk perfect.

At Nepal Mother House, we maintain records of previous TripAdvisor reviews. The trekkers who completed the Manaslu Circuit Trek range in age from preschoolers to seventy years old.

Still, each trekker's experience level, physical fitness, acclimatization, and the upcoming weather will all determine how difficult the climb to the Manaslu Circuit is for them. You must thoroughly prepare and plan for such a high-altitude climb if you are to lower the risk involved.

The best time for Manaslu Circuit Trek

Although the Manaslu Circuit Trek track is open all year round, winter snowfall sometimes causes it to close. When you're ready, the Manaslu climb is the best choice available. Each one of the four seasons offers unique value and riches. In the spring, March, April, and May are the greatest months for this walk; in the fall, September, October, and November are ideal.

Monsoons

The trail will be muddy, and there is a risk of landslides and flooding obstructing it in the monsoon months of June, July, and August. Although trees typically block the mountain view, the surrounding vegetation, which features a delightful variety of flowers, will enhance the uniqueness of your vacation.

Winter's

In December, January, and February, snow will blanket higher areas, potentially causing the Larke La Pass to become inaccessible. Winter can still be enjoyable if you are prepared for the cold and wish to spend more time. The weather will be great, the sky will be beautiful, and the mountain views will be lovely, except for the cold.  free fromh. The weather will be excellent, with a lovely sky and mountain views, except for the cold.

Spring

Spring (March, April, and May) is the second most popular season when you might appreciate the whole natural variety of the Manaslu Circuit. You will have a better opportunity to see the Buddha Jayanti event in the Manaslu region this week. Lord Buddha's birthday happens on Earth toward the end of April. The springtime colors of the "Holi" celebration match Phagu Purnima, Nepali New Year, and Bisket Jatra. Mountaineering and excursions peak during this time in the Himalayas. Around thirty-five percent of hikers visit Manaslu Trekking this season. The high area's jungle comes alive with the blossoming magnolia and rhododendrons, Nepal's national flower, alongside a stunning view of the snow-capped mountains. and

Autumn

Trekking in Nepal is most fun when the Manaslu Circuit adventure takes place in September, October, or November. The greenery is greener following the monsoon, and the temperature is perfect for walks—not hot or cold. The wonderful mountain view is the most stunning. Wonderful! The monsoon has totally cleaned the air. This month is the most often used trekking season in Nepal; 45% of the visitors finish their path. Observed one to seven days, Dashain,Tihar/Dipawali, Chhath, and Manirimdu are the main autumnal celebrations.  Thus, you get a wonderful chance to celebrate the event with the people while trekking in the mountains.

Is this a travel schedule that fits you?

The Manaslu Circuit Travel was formerly able to be completed in the least amount of time—21 days—because of limited road connectivity at the start and completion of the trek. To get to the Sirdibas, you To reach the Sirdibas, you can take a private Jeep from Kathmandu to Machhakhola, as there are no direct transport links from Kathmandu either on the same day or within two days after crossing the Larke La Pass in Dharapani. Improved access to transportation has shortened the Manaslu Circuit Hike to less than 10 days. On the other side, the best use of a long vacation is spending time in the Himalayas.

Manaslu offers various side-trip paths where you may quickly spend the other days enjoying the celebration. You may visit the Kal Tal from Prok Village, Serang Monastery at Nubri, Hiunchuli Base Camp and Henang Monastery,Phung Gyen Gumba from Shayla, Manaslu Advance Base Camp (4,800 m) from Samagaun, and tour the Tibet border at Ruila Pass (4,998 m) from Samdo village during the extended days on the trek. This elevation gain qualifies the Manaslu Circuit Trek as a 14- to 18-day journey. Over the course of the 14-day Manaslu Circuit Trek, the distance travelled is roughly 175 km.

Traveling Through Weather Expectations

The Manaslu Circuit Odyssey is in northern Nepal's Gorkha District; the area's climate is affected by the monsoon season, which runs from June to July, August, and September Occasionally, heavy rain-induced landslides and water may destroy the bridge and restrict the trail. Heavy rain-induced landslides and water may destroy the ridge and restrict the trail.

October, November, and mid-December—when the weather clears and becomes dry—are the finest months to trek Manaslu. The hills remain rich in flora, and some striking blossoms appear just following the wet season.

Experience Nepal's rich culture and celebrations of Dashain, Chhath, and Tihar/Dipawali now; it is a fantastic time. The evening lows are cold; the midday highs are lovely and brilliant.

The winter months last through January, February, and the third week of December. The temperature falls rapidly during this period, and snow and ice make the trail more dangerous. Talk to residents about the weather, the teahouse, and the hike before heading to the Larkya La Pass. Most tea establishments stayed closed during this time.

Once again, March, April, and May bring nice, clear weather; however, rain is still occasionally possible. People view the summer as a good season after fall, as the paths are dry, visibility is good, and the plants—especially the magnolia and rhododendrons—begin to flower.

The best months to go hiking are ultimately November, October, and mid-September. The walking path is dry and in excellent condition at this time of year; greenery follows the post-monsoon season. Clear skies and plenty of sunshine create perfect weather. Likewise, this season falls around various holidays, including Chhath, Dashain, and Tihar/Dipawali. The Himalayas are unreachable because of climate change; daily the glaciers are getting bigger and deeper. Could mid-December also be ideal for the trip to get away from the throng of hikers and less crowded conditions?

Could I travel a shorter distance on the Manaslu Circuit?

In fact, road access at Dharapani, the trailhead, Machhkhola, Jagat, and surrounding Philim lets one take a shorter path. Usually at high altitudes, you must be physically able to finish the 7–8-hour climb most days. One could arrange a 10–12 day Manaslu Circuit excursion. You might consider the 10-day Manaslu Circuit trek if a week-long excursion is too demanding. To find further details, kindly visit the above link.

Manaslu Circuit Trek with Ruila Pass Tibet-Border Hidden Gems Itinerary

Starts: MachhakholaEnds: Dharapani

Our guide and potter come to your hotel in the morning according to the last day meeting briefing. Then we are heading to Arughat 138 km by bus or land cruiser (depending on group size and your requirement) for a scenic drive. While passing the ridge of Kathmandu Valley, you catch a glimpse of Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and Langtang Himal's magnificent views and terraces and green hills. After Dhading Bisi or Gorkha Bazaar, the road is tricky because of the grubby road. To get to Arughat through the Gorkha Bazaar or Dhading Besi depends on your time and choice. But on this trip, we will drive through Dhadingbesi. The village of Arughat is in two parts, on opposite sides of the Budigandaki. Arughat Bazaar is large, clean, and prosperous, with hotels and shops selling cloth, food, and hardware. As the road has been built further from the Arughat Bazaar to the Sotikhola (12.9 km) and to the Machhakhola (13 km) by local jeep or bus. It takes about 2½ to 3 hours to drive by a gravel road. The road will follow the bank of the Budhigandaki River. Along the way, we enjoy splendid views of Shringri Himal and locals livelihoods. The trail goes through the Gurung and Magar villages, past fields and cascading waterfalls, till we reach Soti Khola. The continued drive from Sotikhola to Machhakhola (Fish River) goes through the rice field and explores people's livelihoods. Most of the time the road follows the Budhigandaki River Bank and visits the villages of Lapubesi and Khanibesi. And finally, get to Machhakhola. Sometimes you can get a jeep all the way to Dobhan also, but on this trip, we will stay in the Tea House at Machhakhola (Fish Stream).

Day Highlights

After a hot breakfast, the journey leads us to ascend a narrow trail following Riverbank and farm traces through the Khoralabesi and Tatopani (natural hot spring). We will have lunch at Tatopani and enjoy a hot bath, then we will climb up and down ravines and notched trees. After crossing the bridge, you will meet some trekkers who are coming from the alternative trails from KLeauja and Manbu. Several waterfalls on both sides of the Budhi Gandaki River and hundreds of species of birds in the forest make our trip enjoyable. We will get to Dobhan after a 2- to 3-hour walk from Machhakhola. The trekking leads today, on a beautiful high trail through a narrow dramatic gorge section with towering walls, past a thundering waterfall just above us, and across the suspension bridge, ascending gradually along a wide hillside. While crossing the 195-meter-long walkway bridge hanging on a rock wall at Yaruphat makes your trip memorable. This is the first wall-hanging bridge in Nepal, so people here are more curious about this bridge walk once in a lifetime than trekking. This bridge was built by a Swiss engineering company. Another 2 hours walking us will get us to Jagat, where we need to show all permits; now we are entering the Manaslu Restricted area. Even they will check our guide license and porter identity card. In the next one and a half hours of ascending, we will get to Philim Village. The views of snowcapped mountains, Tewa Himal (6,008 m), Lumbo Himal (6,250 m) above the Philim Village, as well as Lapuchen (5,996 m) and Dwijen Himal (6,309 m), and Shiringi Himal (7,161 m) on the north, are amazing. Stay overnight at Tea House.

Day Highlights

Another four to five hours a day for today; this is a bit shorter than yesterday's. At first, the trail goes gradually up through the magnificent Eklebhatti Bhudhigandaki valley view below the trail and the wonderful mountain view in the north. Before crossing the bridge, there are beautiful waterfall tendering spots of water with its cool breeze and leaving the right trail to Tsum Valley. The track through the pine forest and walk along the gorges made by Gandaki and the singing sound of the river to the Pew village. Finally, get to Deng in a total of 6 to 7 hours of walking. Stay overnight at Tea House.

Day Highlights

After breakfast, the trail switchbacks steeply up to the small, poor village of Rana (here is an alternative route to Tsum Valley as well); after more climbing through lovely woods of pine, we reach Bihi Phedi, views of Kutang Himal, and start to see Mani stones, a sign of the tiny Tibetan footholds marked in the high Himalayan places. We crossed the large Budhi Gandaki twice, many ups and downs as we walked through the gorge, all the time enjoying spectacular views. Eventually, we reach Prok Village above the Budhigandaki River on the opposite side of the Ghap, where we stay overnight at a wonderful village.

Day Highlights

Today is a day of rest at beautiful Prok Village. Prok is situated on the flat land right above the Budhigandaki River. If you are looking for a real Nepalese village and unique culture, this is the right place to visit. During the daytime, you will visit the Kal Tal/Kal Chhumar Lake (3,574 m) for amazing mountain views and the peace of tranquil Kal Lake. It takes 3 to 4 hours to get to Lake. According to the local community rule, you need to hire a local expert guide from Prok Village for a day. Walk back to the Pork for the overnight stay.

Day Highlights

Today is a wonderful trekking day through the dense forest, crossing the Budhi Gandaki wooden bridge, ascending gently up to the Tibetan-run lodge Namrung, and enjoying views of mountains. Then the trail goes to extensive pastureland to the ancient Lihi village, and flowing down the Lidanda Glaciers, we reach the picturesque Tibetan village of Sho at 3000 m. On the way to Lho, the spectacular views of Ngadi Chuli and Manaslu itself make for quite an impressive afternoon. We set up camp in Lho, a sprawling village decorated with many prayer flags, in the yard of a small lodge and monastery. The sunset and sunrise from the campsite are wonderful.

Day Highlights

After breakfast, the trail leads us below the new monastery and historic Chorten at Lho Village and then ascends to the idyllic Tibetan settlement of Shayla village with an amazing mountain panorama view. Then we trek through the alpine trail, which leads us through fields to the 500-year-old settlement of Sama Gaon, or Ro, with unique architecture and two wooden monasteries. Dzongka Dzong (fortress) is at the border of Tibet, a few days' walk from Sama Gaon. Take the afternoon to hike up to the old Gomba settlement above the town and wander the streets of the fascinating Sama Gaon village.

Day Highlights

We have a rest day in Sama Gaon to explore the village and monasteries—a little piece of old Tibet. This is also an extra day in case anyone is having trouble acclimating. A great excursion is to hike towards Manalsu Base Camp for 3 to 4 hours, where we'll have stunning views of the Birendra Lake (45 minutes walk), glacier, and valley. Another option is to hike up to Pung Gyan Gompa, at 3,870 meters, and explore this unique natural beauty. This is the ancient Base Camp of Manaslu. During the autumn, you will see many expedition groups at base camp. Return back to Samagaun for an overnight stay.

Day Highlights

After having breakfast, the trail leads us to breathtaking mountain scenery and blue sheep territory, grazing nearby on the barren hillsides. Perhaps this will be one of the best trekking days on the whole trip, regarding the view and walking. After 3 to 4 hours of walking, you will get to Samdo, where there are more than four teahouses for your accommodation. Still, Samdo is best for views and cultural activities. If you still have energy, then you may hike up to the viewpoint for about 1 ½ to 2 hours. This is best for the acclimatization and exploration day as well. On this day, you may visit the Tibet border, about a 4 to 5-hour walk to get in. Samdo is a summer camp for Samagaun’s people and business transit points of Tibet and Nepal. This time I also see some traders from Tibet and Nepal.

Day Highlights

Today, after taking breakfast, we hike to the Tibet border at Ruila Pass (4,998 m), taking 3 to 4 hours for one way. As there is not any human settlement between Samdo and Ruila Pass, you need to take lunch with you and enough drinking water with warm clothes. You are suggested to take with you a map, trekking pole, and torchlight. Enjoy at the border of Tibet, taking some pictures back to Samdo for an overnight stay. You will be amazed when you see the wide blacktopped road from the border to the mainland of Tibet. This proves how China developed the country.

Day Highlights

The trail leads us to the old trade route towards Tibet, crosses a bridge, and climbs through the trade markets of Larkya bazaar. After about three hours of climbing past glaciers, with increasingly overwhelming panoramas, we come to the campsite at Dharamsala, the high camp for the Larkya La pass, where we have lunch surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery and blue sheep territory, grazing nearby on the barren hillsides. You'll really feel the altitude and the cold here, so enjoy a more leisurely afternoon and keep warm. Now there are many better tea houses due to competition among three tea houses. We’ll have an early dinner in preparation for our pass crossing tomorrow...

Day Highlights

After every morning breakfast, the trail goes to the north side of the Larkya Glaciers, where we have views of Cho Danda and then of Larkya Peak. At first, about 45 minutes of steep ascending, and the rest of the trail goes gradually up. Then, walking for about four hours, we will get to the top of the Larkya La (5,160 m), view wonderful panoramic mountains; Himlung Himal (7126 m), Cheo Himal (6820 m), Gyagi Kung, Kang Kuru (6981 m), and the Annapurna II (7937 m), equally stunning from both sides. The descent is steep, through moraines, towards Bhimtang. There is a tea shop before Larkya La Pass and after. After praying to God and yelling 'Ki ki so so lha Gyalo' (may the Gods be victorious), get ready to drop the often slippery trail following the glacial moraine finally to the Bimphedi/Bhimtang, where 'Three Sisters Hotel' is, the evening clouds gather and turn pink behind the surrounding peaks. It's all worthwhile now.

Day Highlights

The trail descends along the fig tree and rhododendron forests, through the rocky riverbed and sliding hillsides to several small green villages. Eventually, after a long but very scenic day, we reach the large village of Tilje, inhabited by a mix of Manang (of Tibetan descent) and Chettris (Hindus), so they have a unique architecture and culture and eat mixed foods—Dal Bhat, buckwheat Dhido, Tsampa, and Tibetan salt-tea. It's an easy trekking day following the Dudh Khola through bamboo forests about 1½ to 2 hours walk down; we see ahead marks of the ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project) board at Dharapani. Now we are on the Annapurna Circuit Trekking main trail, an atmospheric Tibetan village with prayer flags fluttering at the Gomba in Thongje. We will stay overnight at the tea house.

Day Highlights

Now you can drive Dhrapani to Besisahar by jeep on a bumpy road takes 3 to 4 hours and again drive back to Kathmandu 5 to 6 hours, then to your Destination

Essential Information

Lodging and dining for the Manaslu Larke Pass Trek

Traveling the Manaslu Larke Pass as a teahouse excursion is growing in popularity. Established in 2009, the Tea House Walk aims to involve the community in the tourism industry by means of employment and the purchase of locally produced goods, therefore empowering the residents.

Accommodation:

Along the Manaslu Circuit walk, basic teahouse amenities, including meals and overnight accommodation, abound. The lodging provided a spectrum of room types, from a single bedroom with a double bed to a dorm room with a comfortable mattress, bedsheets, a pillow, and a blanket. You can thus depart the camp empty-handed in food, sleeping bags, or tents. Although the bathrooms and toilets are shared, there are better lodgings at Namrung, Lho Village, Samagaun, and other places where you might have an attached bathroom, including a hot shower. Currently, in Namrung Village, there is a luxurious hotel geared at luxury walkers with all the conveniences, including a heater. Places like Lho Village, Samagaun, and Samdoat Larkya Bazaar also offer attached bathrooms.

What kind of food is available?

Every day there will be breakfast, lunch, and dinner served. Every teahouse has a menu; hence, with the cards, you can choose whatever meal you enjoy. While some, like Samdo and Dharmashala, serve only a few options, most teahouses usually include a range of meals. Dalbhat, Nepalese rice presented with curry, lentil soup, and pickles, is the most often consumed meal on the trip. Should you not be satisfied, you can always order extra food. Additional cuisine that may be requested from the tea house is pizza, macaroni, noodles, rice, potatoes, soup, bread, MOMO (dumpling), Sizzler, yak stake, etc.

The cooks and waiters of the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) and the Institute of Hospitality Management & Tourism of Nepal have given them first-rate training, so they provide high-quality meals with cleanliness and a wonderful taste. Some teahouses and guesthouses, like the restaurant in Kathmandu, provide various cuisines. The tea house serves mostly vegetarian food, but it also offers non-vegetarian options. We at Nepal Mother House advise against eating meat because fresh meat is unavailable during the climb. We had some unpleasant encounters with our guests on the trail. To minimize negative encounters, try to eat vegetarian during the climb. Hot beverages such as tea and coffee will also accompany the meals.

Manaslu Circuit Trek's Transportation Service

The major point of entrance for the Manaslu Circuit Trek is Arughat. From Kathmandu, three bus routes are available; daily regular bus runs leave the city in the morning between six and eight o'clock. Dire The direct road from Machhakhola leads to the old town of Gorkha Bazaar. One has to change to another jeep because regular buses do not go directly from Machhakhola to Gorkha Bazaar. Next, take a jeep from Machhakhola to Jagat.

Driven along the Trishuli River bank across the Prithvi Highway, the 138-kilometer trip to Arughat Bazaar provides amazing landscape. From there, it takes another 9 to 10 hours to get to Sotikhola, 13 km distant, and Machhakola, 12.9 km away. Two buses run every day from Machhakhola to Kathmandu, passing via the ancient Gorkha Bazaar; the private jeep drives in Machhakhola at Jagat and Ner by Philim during the dry season. The day bus leaves early in the morning at 5:00 AM; the night shift bus leaves at 5:00 PM. This implies that the bus will let you get from Kathmandu to Machhakhola.

Passenger demand will drive more buses added by the Gorkha Daraundi Yatayat. Driving with Nepalis for the first time will make the journey after Dhading Besi challenging. After completing the climb, you will drive the 211 km back to Kathmandu from Dharapani— almost a whole day. For a somewhat more expensive hire, you can get a private Jeep from Kathmandu to Arughat and Dharapani for a more comfortable and safer journey. We at Nepal Mother House do all we can to fit your path to your particular needs.

Trekking the Manaslu Circuit: Internet and Communication
Most towns on the Manaslu Circuit Trek have Wi-Fi accessible for a modest hourly cost these days, and landlines and cell phones are the main ways people access the internet. Although Wi-Fi is present in Philim, Namrung, Lho, and Samagaun, severe weather—especially heavy precipitation or snowfall—may periodically cause service disruptions.

Lodging and Food for the Manaslu Larke Pass Trek

The Manaslu Larke Pass trip is becoming more and more popular as a teahouse excursion. The Tea House Walk was established in 2009 to engage the community in the tourism sector, with the goals of empowering the locals and generating income through jobs and the purchase of goods made in the area.

Accommodations

Basic teahouse facilities are available all along the Manaslu Circuit trek, including overnight lodging and meals. The accommodations offered a range of room types, from a single bedroom and double bed to a dormitory room with a decent mattress, bedsheets, pillow, and a blanket. As a result, you can leave the camp without bringing any food, sleeping bags, or tents. While the restrooms and bathrooms are shared, there are superior accommodations in Namrung, Lho Village, Samagaun, and other locations where you may have an attached bathroom with a hot shower. There is a posh hotel targeted toward luxury trekkers right in Namrung Village, complete with a heater and other necessities.

What kind of food is available?

There will be three meals available each day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Each tea house has a menu, so you can select any dish you like from the cards on the menu. The majority of teahouses typically offer various meals, while some, like Samdo and Dharmashala, only serve a few. The most popular meal on the hike is Dalbhat, which is Nepalese rice served with curry, lentil soup, and pickles. You can always order more food if you don't feel satisfied. The tea house also serves additional culinary items that can be requested, including pizza, macaroni, noodles, rice, potatoes, soup, bread, MOMO (dumpling), Sizzler, yak stake, etc.

The Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) and the Institute of Hospitality Management & Tourism of Nepal have provided their cooks and waiters with excellent training, so they maintain high-quality cuisine with cleanliness and a decent taste. Some teahouses and guesthouses, like the restaurant in Kathmandu, serve a range of meals. The tea house serves mostly vegetarian fare; however, there are also non-vegetarian options available. Because we don't have fresh meat on the hike, we at Nepal Mother House advise against eating meat products. We encountered some unpleasant situations with our guests during the trek. Therefore, make every effort to eat vegetarian while on the hike. The meals will also be served with hot drinks like tea and coffee.

Transportation Service on Manaslu Circuit Trek

The Manaslu Circuit Trek's main entrance, Arughat, is where the trek starts. Three bus departures are accessible from Kathmandu; daily regular bus services leave the city in the morning between six and eight o'clock. The historic town of Gorkha Bazaar is accessible by direct bus to Machhakhola. Even though frequent buses pass through Dhading Besi to Arughat Bazaar, one must transfer to another jeep.

The journey to Arughat Bazaar spans 138 km, offering breathtaking scenery as you drive along the Trishuli River bank through the Prithvi Highway. From there, it takes another 9 to 10 hours to reach Sotikhola, which is 13 km away, and Machhakola, which is 12.9 km away. Nowadays, two buses travel daily from Machhakhola to Kathmandu, passing through the historic Gorkha Bazaar; however, the private jeep arrives at Machhakhola at Dobhan. The day shift bus leaves at 7:00 AM in the morning, and the night bus leaves at 5:00 PM. The schedule suggests that you can travel from Kathmandu to Machhakhola by bus.

The Gorkha Daraundi Yatayat will add more buses as a result of passenger demand. First-time visitors to Nepal may find driving more challenging. It will take you approximately a full day to drive 211 kilometers back to Kathmandu from Dharapani after finishing the hike. If you are looking for a much more comfortable and secure ride, you can hire a private Jeep from Kathmandu to Machhakhola/Jagat and from Dharapani to Kathmandu for a slightly higher fee. At Nepal Mother House, we make every effort to tailor your journey to your unique requirements.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek: The Internet and Communication

These days, most tea houses on the Manaslu Circuit Trek have Wi-Fi available for a nominal hourly fee, and landlines and cell phones are the primary means of internet access in most settlements. While Wi-Fi is available in Philim, Namrung, Lho, and Samagaun, Samdo, service interruptions may occasionally occur due to inclement weather, particularly during periods of intense precipitation or snowfall. If you're looking to purchase a Nepalese SIM, it's recommended to purchase from Nepal Telecom (NTC), which offers good coverage and 4G service throughout the entire Manaslu Trek

Are you looking for the only trekking permits and a guide to formalize the trip?

**Note: If you are looking for only hiring a guide and logistic support from us, then we are glad to provide a guide and require permits. Normally, a guide/porter costs 25 and 30 USD per day; however, we would offer you only 23 USD and 25 USD, respectively, per day for most of the trekking routes in Manaslu. The fee covers guide and porter wages, meals, and accommodation.

And the longest walk will be from Dharmashala to Bhimtang via Larkya La Pass about 8 to 9 hours and this is the highest elevation of 5,160m at Larkya La. Similarly, the lowest elevation is at Arughat (535m).

The Manaslu Restricted Area Trekking (MRA) Permit can be submitted with your passport and Nepal Visa Number, but other permits can be arranged prior to your arrival with your passport information and passport-size photos. So, this permit can be organized after your arrival in Kathmandu.

Regarding the drinking water; in most places, you can buy bottles of mineral water, and boiling water but for the environmental concern, we would like to suggest you use water purification methods; either using water purification drugs or a filter machine and Ultraviolet rage (Steripen). This will help to reduce environmental pollution.

They need to study and be practical about Culture, History, sociology, anthropology, tourism, hospitability, language, hiking, climbing, environment, etc. So, they are experienced in every trekking area in Nepal, especially for Manaslu. You may go through our Clients Review for more testimonials about our Guide and agency.

Around Manaslu Trekking is a high-altitude journey that will take you above 5,000 meters that involves high chances of altitude sickness. To avoid Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), you have to acclimate your body properly at a lower elevation before moving higher. There should be enough res days in your itinerary. And you have one rest day at Sama Gaun for acclimatization. So, your body is already well acclimatized before crossing the pass, as a result, you can traverse the pass without any problem. And we would like to notice that the Larkya Pass is much easier, due to the trail going gently up until the pass.

No, you cannot do the solo trek in the Manaslu region normally. As per the rules of the Nepal government, you have to go with a guide through the government-registered trekking company and at least two trekkers in a group. Traveling with a trekking company will make the journey a little less hectic for you. All the arrangements will be made by the company priorly, therefore you do not have to worry about accommodation and food. Likewise, a guide will help you not only to find the route but also inform you about the region and its specialty. But if you are really like to do a solo trip, then we are glad to organize the trip only for you, in this situation either join permits with another group or buy double permits for the trek.

You can send us by email in digital version. But while processing the Manaslu Restricted Area Permits in the immigration office, they will ask for your original passport to validate your Nepal visa entire trip. To make those permits, it takes almost a half-day to visit different offices. The Immigration office will remain open from 10 to 5 PM except for Saturdays and Government holidays. We need to apply the document by 2 PM lately. So, we will organize all permits after your arrival. For more details about permits, you may go through the Trekking Permits Fee in Nepal.
