Poon Hill Trek Route and Trail Information
Poon Hill Ghorepani Trek begins at Ulleri or Banthanti after a scenic short drive from the beautiful city of Pokhara. Then, you will drive for an hour to reach Nayapul, which was the starting point of the classical trek. But nowadays the road crosses further the Birethanti and goes along the bank of Bhurungdi Khola to the Banthanti. On this Poonhill Trek Route, you do not need to walk through villages like Sudan and Hille and escape the hardest part of the trek, Tikhedhunga to Ulleri, which is steep and ascending. The trail passes by lush forests of rhododendrons and takes you to a beautiful Ghorepani village.
The next day, you will wake up early to catch the sunrise from Poon Hill Viewpoint, located above Ghorepani village. The trail to the viewpoint is steep and through the forest. Upon reaching Poon Hill, you get to see a heaven-like view, the glorious sun rising with the backdrop of snow-clustered western Himalayan Mountains. After that, drop down to Ghorepani village to have breakfast and continue trekking, following a downhill path that leads back to Tikhedhunga, from where you will drive back to Pokhara and Kathmandu.
